Throughout their lives, Laurie and Ike Perlmutter have been devoted to the efforts of the NYU Langone Medical Center. In 2014, Laurie and Ike Perlmutter donated in excess of $50 million to advance cancer research and treatment. “For three decades Laurie and Ike have, with generosity and foresight, supported our programs,” said Dr. Robert Grossman, NYU Langone dean and CEO.

The NYU Langone’s Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Cancer Center combines visionary thinking and compassionate care with the science of treating cancer. It is National Cancer Institute (NCI)–designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and part of NYU Langone Health, one of the nation’s premier academic medical centers.
The Perlmutter Cancer Center performs cutting-edge basic, translational, clinical, and population research that enhances cancer prevention, treatments, outcomes, and quality of life for our patients. It specializes in the treatment of all cancer types and its clinical trials give patients access to the newest, most innovative therapies, allowing it to deliver tomorrow’s best treatments today.
As part of its mission, the center works to educate the community and healthcare professionals about the latest cancer research, screening, diagnosis, and treatment.
Laurie Perlmutter began her work with NYU Langone Medical Center in the early 1980s as a women’s auxiliary volunteer in the hospital’s gift shop, working the cash register and helping customers select gifts for hospitalized friends and family members. She went on the become president of the Tisch Hospital Auxiliary from 1985 to 1992 and the Medical Center’s board of trustees, and has been on its Cancer Advisory Board since 2005. Ike Perlmutter is also on NYU Langone's board of trustees.
